Saba Oltremare – Bench

Oltremare is the result of a collaboration between Saba and designer Antonio Marras, drawing on a distant place and time layered with personal history and memory. Marras has described the piece as something close to a sacred object, one that carries the story of his homeland and his sea within its form. Across the collection, the curve becomes the defining language — bending into a wave, a fold, an enclosure, or an opening — and that same curved line shapes the way the pieces are sat in, with asymmetric backrests and deep, enveloping seats that move away from the more rectangular conventions of typical sofa design.

Those same asymmetric curves carry through to the companion armchair, a compact, cocoon-like seat raised on a slender varnished metal base whose simplicity throws the armchair's silhouette into sharper relief. Together, the bench and armchair form a seating system that looks back with affection while speaking in a clearly contemporary voice.
