Papel was conceived as a table that performs as much as it furnishes, and it remains the centrepiece of a modern dining room. Designer Margherita Fanti describes it as a study in fluid shapes and soft, unbroken curves drawn from nature -- specifically, from the movement of waves.
The base changes character depending on where you stand: solid and hollow cylinders trade places as the light shifts, making the table feel slender from one angle and substantial from another. Choosing a Brushed finish, hand-worked by skilled artisans, sharpens that effect further, and because the curved metal base is cast in one piece, its full serpentine line reads cleanly.
The Papel family runs wider still: Papel Keramik and Papel Keramik Premium carry ceramic tops, the latter finished with a broad, hand-worked Brushed edge, while this Marble edition takes the design furthest with a natural stone surface of striking graphic impact. Papel Wood offers a timber top in several shapes, and the smaller Papelito and longer Papel 3.5 complete the range.
